New longer-length IV catheter, designed to increase catheter dwell time, offers fully automatic, passive needlestick protection and multi-access blood control
BETHLEHEM, Pa., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — B. Braun Medical Inc. (B. Braun), a leader in smart infusion therapy and pain management, today announced the launch of the Introcan Safety® 2 Deep Access IV Catheter, the newest addition to its ultrasound-guided deep access portfolio.

The new Introcan Safety 2 Deep Access IV Catheter combines clinically demonstrated extended-dwell performance1 and multi-access blood control to help reduce blood exposure during repeated access. Designed for difficult venous access (DIVA) and extended therapy patients, it is engineered to help clinicians reach deeper vessels through a familiar insertion platform that can be readily integrated into existing workflows.
The peripheral IV catheter combines extended length, multi-access blood control and fully automatic passive safety protection. The blood control hub is designed to maintain blood control during insertion and every time the hub is accessed, helping minimize blood exposure and support a more efficient IV workflow. Passive safety technology is designed to reduce the risk of needlestick injuries without adding steps or workflow burden.
“The new Introcan Safety 2 Deep Access IV Catheter provides clinicians with another peripheral access option for difficult access and extended therapy patients,” said Tyra Swavely, Group Product Director, Vascular Access. “Together with our new Peripheral Advantage®plus Program, we’re helping clinicians build confidence in ultrasound-guided access and appropriate device selection across a broader range of patient needs while continuing our focus on safety for patients and providers.”
B. Braun will be exhibiting at Booth #103 at the AVA Scientific Meeting, October 2-4 in Grapevine, Texas. Attendees will be able to explore B. Braun’s ultrasound-guided deep access portfolio, including the new Introcan Safety 2 Deep Access IV Catheter, Peripheral Advantageplus Program and upcoming Introcan Safety Deep Access XL IV Catheter.
Peripheral Advantageplus is B. Braun’s newest vascular access program. It combines product technology and education designed to support clinician competency, appropriate device selection and advancement of vascular access care.
