Heeney Capital Completes First Aluminum Shipment from Venezuela in U.S.-Backed Energy and Mining Initiative
PR Newswire
NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2026
NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2026/PRNewswire/ — Heeney Capital (“Heeney“) announced on September 18 that an initial shipment of 15,000 tons of primary aluminum has departed Venezuela for the United States, in partnership with Mercuria Energy Group (“Mercuria“). The delivery from Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (“CVG“) Venalum celebrates the significant milestone as the first primary aluminum to move from Venezuela to the United States in eight years.
The transaction is part of an existing offtake agreement with Heeney Capital, Mercuria, and the Venezuelan government, and supports a broader White House-backed effort to invest in and revitalize Venezuela’s energy and mining sectors.
“This shipment demonstrates that Venezuela’s mining and energy sectors are a reliable partner to U.S. industry,” said Henry Heeney, Co-Founder of Heeney Capital. “We’re proud to be first movers in this effort, and see this as part of a much larger wave of investment in Venezuela.”
“This is the kind of private-sector-led investment we set out to deliver in Venezuela’s energy and mining sectors,” said Sean Pi, Co-Founder of Heeney Capital. “Projects like Venalum create real economic opportunity while helping restore U.S. supply chain access to critical materials.”
Heeney looks forward to working with the government of Venezuela and CVG to expand trade between the United States and Venezuela.
