Julia Cherashore, Advisory Board Member, Cognetryx

Former NYS DFS deputy superintendent joins Cognetryx to align private AI with what examiners expect.

Ms. Cherashore has spent more than two decades inside the institutions that run, govern, and examine data at scale. Recently, she served as the first-in-role Deputy Superintendent for Data Governance and Management at the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYS DFS), where her leadership of the agency-wide data governance program won a “Best of New York” award for “Best Workplace Initiative.” Her 20+ years of experience span data, risk management, compliance, management consulting, and operations at leading financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Goldman, Sachs & Co., PwC, Visa, and Moody’s.

“Julia’s regulatory experience coupled with her risk mitigation work with one of the largest banks in the world gives her unique insight to guide our platform’s development,” said Keith Kennedy, CISSP, founder and CEO of Cognetryx. “That kind of professional discernment and judgment is rare in this space, and I could not be happier to have her join us in this role.”

Cognetryx’s unique private AI platform deploys entirely inside a customer’s network, offering agentic solutions for multiple workflows and tasks, but without data egress to cloud tools. Ms. Cherashore will advise, among other things, on how the platform’s governance, logging, and access controls map to examiner expectations for regulated institutions, while supporting the company’s outreach efforts.

Ms. Cherashore is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business and a Senior Fellow at the Data Foundation. She is a frequent speaker at prestigious data and AI events, including Reuters Momentum AI, SuperReturn, CDO Vision, Corinium Intelligence, GovTech, and BFSI Nexus, and her insights have been featured by Reuters, Forbes, and CDO Magazine. She holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and dual undergraduate degrees in Music and Business Administration from Weber State University.

“Regulated institutions want a cost-effective way to use enterprise-grade AI tools, and examiners increasingly want assurance that they are governed appropriately to protect sensitive data,” said Ms. Cherashore. “I am glad to help companies accomplish both with the Cognetryx private platform.”

About Cognetryx
